Rural Wellbeing Academy
Landscape Design

2009

Situated on 10 hectares of rural land in Waihi, this academy developed by a group of foreign investors was no small project. It is a school for foreign students with a curriculum of health and wellness lifestyle courses; a perfect setting for it.

Form and Foliage was engaged as the landscape consultant for the project which entailed:

  • The production of a Landscape Master Plan for the purposes of obtaining resource consent.
  • Detailed design of the landscaping surrounding the main hall, classrooms, library and administration buildings.
  • Design of the entry gates and driveway planting.
  • The layout of the storm water pond and surrounding planting.

Joehan & Partners liaised with Form & Foliage (Mr Michael Wheatcroft) for the project Waihi Academy, Waihi where Form & Foliage was engaged by G & W to design, coordinate and oversee the development of the landscape. The project was built over 10 hectares and involved the development of 9 main buildings (Main Hall, Admin Building, Classrooms, Staff Dorm, Student Dorms, etc.) and the associated infrastructure and services.

Experienced and creative planning of the landscape was pivotal in coordinating all of the external elements of the Academy and engaging with the many other consultants involved in the project.

Form and Foliage delivered their services professionally and on time, often within very tight time constraints. They responded with sound solutions to the many changes during the projects construction and the result is an impressive, easy care landscape for the Academy.

Michael Wheatcroft is an honest and friendly person who has good rapport with people (the client, consultant Team and the Council).

I have no hesitation recommending him to prospective clients.
